JSCOR fellow published in The Lancet
JSCOR post-doctoral fellow and member of the diaspora, Dr. Neeraja Nagarajan, along with colleagues, has written a timely piece for The Lancet on the need to thoughtfully engage diaspora health workers in building health systems and disaster response capacity in low and middle-income countries. The commentary touches upon the need for a paradigm shift in the way diaspora health workers are seen – from causes of “brain drain” to an asset for creating sustainable change for strengthening health care systems in their countries of origin – and delineates strategies for coordinating efforts of diaspora during humanitarian emergencies.
